Brand part Needle plates
Needle plates (throat plates) for domestic, serger and industrial machines, listed by model. A plate with a needle strike — a burr or crater around the hole — snags thread and fabric and causes skipped stitches and shredding; a serger plate with a damaged stitch finger stops the loopers forming a clean edge. Plates are specific to a model's feed-dog slots, hole position and stitch width: a zig-zag plate has a wide hole, a straight-stitch plate a small round one that supports fine fabric better, and serger plates carry the stitch finger and knife clearance for that machine.

Plates are listed with the type in the name — zig-zag, straight stitch, serger, complete with stitch finger — and the models they fit. Order by model number; a plate from a sibling model can sit flat and still be a millimeter off at the hole.
Frequently asked questions
Zig-zag or straight-stitch plate?
Zig-zag for general sewing; a straight-stitch plate supports fine or thin fabric better and stops it being pushed into the hole. Only use a straight-stitch plate with the needle in the center position.
The hole on my plate is burred. Can I file it?
A light polish with fine abrasive can save a plate with a minor burr; a crater or a cracked plate should be replaced.
