Aurifil Cotton Mako 12wt Thread 1931 yd

Aurifil Cotton Mako is spun from Egyptian long-staple cotton and is known for very low lint and a smooth, slightly glossy finish. The weight numbering runs the opposite way to intuition — 50wt is the fine piecing thread, 40wt the all-rounder, 28wt and 12wt the heavy decorative weights.

Best for: 50wt: piecing and machine quilting with minimal bulk in the seam. 40wt: quilting and construction. 28wt: hand quilting and visible machine quilting. 12wt: hand stitching, big-stitch quilting, bold topstitching.
Needle: 80/12 for 50wt; 90/14 for 40wt; 100/16 for 28wt; Topstitch 100/16 for 12wt.
