Hook assemblies and races
The hook is the part under the needle plate that catches the top thread and carries it around the bobbin to form a stitch; the race is the track it runs in. On domestic machines the hook is usually a rotary or oscillating assembly that the bobbin case sits inside; on industrials it is a precision rotating hook sold with or without the bobbin case. A hook with a burr, a worn race, or one that has been knocked out of time by a jam causes skipped stitches, shredding top thread and thread nests underneath — and no amount of rethreading fixes it.

Hooks are model-specific and often handed (left or right rotation). Order by model number from the fits-these-machines list; if your model is not named, send us the model and the number stamped on the old hook.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to re-time the machine after fitting a hook?
Usually yes. Hook-to-needle timing should be checked after any hook replacement; on industrials this is a bench job unless you have the manual and a gauge.
Does the hook come with the bobbin case?
Some industrial listings include it and say so in the name; most domestic hooks are sold without. The specification table states what is included.
