Jeans (denim) needles have a very sharp point and a reinforced, stiffer blade that pushes through dense weaves without deflecting, so the needle does not break or skip in thick seams.

Schmetz Jeans / Denim needles, gold-plated, 130/705 H system, size 100/16 — heavy, for jeans, heavy canvas and topstitching thread. The 130/705 H system (also written 15x1 or HAx1) is the flat-shank household needle used by almost every domestic sewing and embroidery machine.

Use for: Denim, canvas, heavy twill, several layers of woven fabric.

Go up a size when crossing bulky seams — 100/16 for most jeans work.
