Mettler Silk Finish Cotton is a mercerized, long-staple Egyptian cotton thread with a smooth, slightly lustrous finish and very little lint. It is the thread many quilters use for both piecing and machine quilting because it sews cleanly on every machine and the color range is large.
Mettler Silk Finish Cotton 40wt — 40wt, 1000 m per spool, 5 spools.
Best for: Piecing, machine quilting, garment construction in natural fibers, hand quilting in the heavier weights.
Needle: Universal or Microtex 80/12 for 50wt; 90/14 for 40wt; 100/16 for 28wt.
Cotton thread has no stretch, so it is not the choice for knits — use Metrosene or Seralon for those.
