What this part does

An even feed or walking foot adds a second set of feed teeth on top of the fabric that move in step with the machine's own feed dogs, so the top and bottom layers travel together. It is the foot for quilting through batting, matching plaids, sewing vinyl and anything that creeps.

How to tell if this is the right one

Walking feet are matched by shank type and by the fork that sits over the needle clamp screw. Use the model list where given; otherwise check low shank, high shank or slant shank against your machine.

Signs you need this part

Replacement when the fork is bent, the teeth worn or the foot no longer lifts cleanly.

Fitting it

Remove the presser foot and holder, fit the walking foot so its fork rests on the needle clamp screw, and tighten the thumbscrew.
